Alvina L. Garcia, born in 1943, is a renowned Native American potter from the Santo Domingo Pueblo. She began her pottery journey in 1974, learning the craft from her mother, Virginia Lovato, and grandmother, Santana Moquino. Garcia specializes in traditional methods, gathering clay from her community and using all-natural paints, while firing her pieces outdoors. Her work reflects the rich cultural heritage of her people. She is supported by her daughter, Melinda Garcia, and son-in-law Irvin Lucero, with her other daughter, Frances Lucero, also continuing the pottery tradition in Jemez.
