Evelyn Cheromiah was the primary force behind a Laguna pottery revival that began in the 1970s. Working with Nancy Winslow, an Anglo woman from Albuquerque, Evelyn secured a grant to teach 2 pottery making courses at the Laguna Pueblo Community Center.
More About the ArtistLaguna is the largest Keresan-speaking Pueblo, with around eight thousand members. They prize thinking above all human attributes, consequently, they value intellectual activity and education. A scholarship program is conducted by the Pueblo, thus insuring advanced study for many of the young people, making them among the best educated of all Pueblos.
